Understanding AI · without the jargon
What is AI, what can ChatGPT do, and what should a business consider before using it? This guide explains the main terms through everyday work examples. No technical background required.
Four distinctions are enough to get started. You do not need to code or keep track of every new tool.

ChatGPT is an AI tool you can give questions or tasks in ordinary language. Its answers can be useful, but they can also sound convincing while being wrong.
A prompt is the instruction you give an AI system. A useful instruction describes the task, context, desired result and boundaries, much like a clear brief for a colleague.
The term describes fabricated or incorrect AI output. Important statements, figures and sources need to be checked by a person.
Start small with a task you already understand well.
Begin with a draft, an outline or a list of ideas. Avoid sensitive data and decisions with serious consequences for this first exercise.
Compare the output with your own expertise. Identify mistakes, missing information and statements that need a source.
Keep the input, review steps and approval process. This creates a routine other people can understand and repeat.
You can try useful first applications in ordinary language. Technical work becomes relevant when connecting systems or building a custom application.
Clear instructions matter more than technical buzzwords. Describe the task in words you and your colleagues normally use.
One recurring task that takes up time is enough. The first step is to establish whether AI can help with it at all.
Experience and learning pace matter more than age. A good introduction leaves room for questions, repetition and examples from your own work.
Describe the result you need first. “A clear summary for customers” is more useful than “Do something with AI.”
Before entering information, check whether it includes names, contracts, trade secrets or other confidential material.
Someone with the relevant knowledge must be able to check the content, figures, tone and sources. AI does not replace that quality control.
Decide who may use or send the result. For important content, a person retains the final decision.
Try the basics together, with time for questions and exercises at a suitable pace.
